Seillans

Seillans is a small "ville perché" (perched hill-top village) overlooking the plain between the southern Alps and the Esterel, which borders the sea between Cannes and Saint-Raphaël. It has been recognized as "one of the prettiest villages of France". The commune of Seillans covers the town and its rural catchment area. It is in the pays de Fayence in the Var département in SE France. Seillans has a steeply-inclined medieval centre, accessible only on foot, and a number of small squares and old buildings. It is the western-most of a line of such towns and villages (including Montauroux, Callian, Tourrettes and Fayence) that face south and attract tourists and each offer a variety of cultural pursuits. They are most striking when viewed from the plain below. Other local attractions include the nearby Lac St. Cassien. Seillans is also a destination for holiday-makers, retirees and second-home owners from other parts of France and northern Europe, lured by the charming houses and scenery combined with the sunny climate and proximity to the Mediterranean. Seillans features a castle and delightful C13 church at its summit. Nearby are rustic chapels, vineyards, forests and olive groves.

The Pays de Fayence

In the Pays de Fayence there are 8 hill top villages: Tanneron, Montauroux, Callian, Mons, Tourettes, Fayence, Saint-Paul, Seillans. Between the coast and the mountains of Préalpes, the back-country of the Var reveals its hill top villages between the wooded undulating croups of cork, holm oaks and pines. This contrasted Provence combines calm and authenticity, although near to the prestigious sites of Cannes, St-Raphaël, Fréjus.

Sport activites

Between mountain and sea, the activities are particularly varied: excursions, vtt, climbing, cayoning, accrobranche in Mons, ski in Gréolières Les Neiges (50 km), diving, jet ski in Saint-Raphaël (35 km). 10 minutes from nautical activities and carp fishing in Saint Cassien lake. The area offers a many golfs of which the golf of Terre Blanche, larger European golf with Tourrettes, two courses of 18 holes and practice.
